ARTORG 3D-Printing Core Facility

On the 14th of April 2016, the inauguration event of the Medical Rapid Prototyping Core Facility of the ARTORG Center and the Inselspital was held. To an audience of clinicians and biomedical engineers, the departments of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, Diagnostic, Interventional and Paediatric Radiology and Cardiac surgery from the Inselspital, University Hospital of Bern, presented their diverse experiences in utilising the 3D printing facilities for patient treatment, surgical training and clinical research. The core facility which includes state of the art additive manufacturing and 3D printing systems has already facilitated many ground breaking projects including customised patient specific skull implant molds, models for perioperative planning of complex aortic arch surgery, liver resection planning models and aneurysm models for surgical coiling and surgical clipping.
