PhD thesis defense Prisca Dotti

The ARTORG Center congratulates Prisca Dotti for her successful PhD thesis defense on 18 July 2024! At the Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging group, Prisca worked on a deep learning-based method for automatically detecting and classifying local Ca²⁺ release events in cardiomyocytes, demonstrating high accuracy and robustness under the title “Detection, Localization, and Classification of Subcellular Ca²⁺ Release Events: Using a Deep Learning Approach.” The model successfully detects over 75% of events, with performance comparable to expert human annotations. This approach offers a significant, time-saving alternative to traditional labour-intensive analysis methods.
